ONE man was left needing hospital treatment for his injuries after a street brawl in Melksham on Sunday (12/06).

The fight broke out at around 9.45pm in Union Street. A house was also damaged when a door and window were smashed.

Two men in their 20s were arrested on suspicion of ABH and criminal damage and have since been interviewed and released while investigations continue.

PC Storm Brand, of Trowbridge Community Policing, said: “This was a violent disorder which caused significant disturbance in the local area for the residents of Union Street.

"It is completely unacceptable to behave in this and manner and act so recklessly.

"There were up to 30 people in the area at the time and I am appealing for anyone to come forward who may have witnessed the incident or have video footage available.

"We are already aware of some which has been circulating on social media."

"I would like to thank some of the residents in Union Street for their support and patience on Sunday evening and there may be an increased presence in the area over the next couple of days whilst further enquiries are made.”
