YEAR eight foreign languages pupils at Warminster School who have been in contact with a school in Germany put their language skills to the test as they met their foreign pen pals for the first time over Skype.

The school has been twinned with Internat Solling, a private secondary school near Holzminden in Germany, and for the last couple of weeks the pupils have been practising their German as well as getting to know their pen pals by telling them a bit more about themselves.

The pupils used a sheet with important questions and phrases to guide them, and the Skype conversations were both in German and English.

Nicola Rogers, head of modern foreign languages said: “Over the past 4 years we have established strong links with partner schools in Cognac, France and Zaragoza, Spain. We are now really excited to be building up a relationship with a school in Germany too.

“The children really enjoyed meeting their pen pals over Skype.”
