A murder investigation has been launched after a man’s body was discovered at a house in the Glenwherry area of Co Antrim.
The man’s body was found in a house in the Church Road area at around 1pm on Tuesday afternoon, it is understood he was shot.
Forensic investigators were dispatched to examine the scene after the man’s body was discovered.
Detectives from the PSNI’s Major Investigation Team launched the murder investigation late on Tuesday evening.
A PSNI spokesman said: “Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding his death.”
Sinn Fein’s Oliver McMullan said the local community is in shock after the incident.
“The local community is in shock after the discovery that a man was shot dead in a house at Church Road in Glenwherry,” Me McMullan said.
“This is a quiet area and locals are alarmed at what has happened.
“The PSNI have launched a murder inquiry and investigations are now under way.
“I would appeal to anyone with information on what happened to bring it forward to the PSNI.”
