BRADFORD Town boss Danny Greaves hopes that his side are ready to bounce back after they were eliminated from the FA Cup on the opening day of the season.

Bradford kicked off their 2016-17 campaign by hosting Fareham Town in the extra preliminary round but there will be no further adventures in the country’s most famous cup competition for Greaves’ men after they were beaten 3-1.

The Trowbridge Road men have been denied the chance to atone for their Fareham loss on tonight as their clash with Gillingham has been postponed due to the Gills drawing 1-1 Bristol Manor Farm in the cup and requiring a midweek replay, leaving Greaves to focus on Saturday’s home fixture against newly-promoted Wells City.

“We were massively disappointed with the result but quite encouraged by the performance on Saturday,” said Greaves, who was taking charge of his first competitive game as Bradford manager.

“It’s a shame that we don't have a game tonight anymore, so we got the lads in for training on Monday, just to have a bit of a chat about where we went wrong.

“We had a great pre-season and won five games but you learn more from a defeat and hopefully we learn a few lessons from that game.

“The FA Cup is huge but there weren’t any points up for grabs – the league has to be our bread and butter.”

Bradford got off to promising start against their Sydenhams League opponents and took the lead with 18 minutes on the clock as Karim Rendall nodded on Matt Morris’ cross to allow Dan Cottle to make it 1-0.

But Matt Andrews levelled the match for Fareham and the same player turned the tie on its head when he found the net again after the break.

With five minutes to go, any hopes of a Bradford comeback were ended when Callum Laycock set up Lee McCrombie to round off the scoring.
