HEAD coach Dan Jeffries believes that the true test of his Trowbridge team’s credentials will be how they follow-up last weekend’s blitzing of Blandford.

Jeffries’ men bounced back from their narrow defeat at Walcot in their last outing on November 26 by romping to a dominant 55-0 victory at Doric Park, running in nine tries while simultaneously shutting out their opponents.

Despite being pleased with what his team served up last weekend, the Trowbridge boss is keen to see his troops display the same professionalism when they to go Combe Down tomorrow, particularly given their record away from home so far this term.

Victory at Dorset Dockers in September and a Dorset & Wilts Cup win over near neighbours Devizes in October are Trowbridge’s only victories on the road to date during the current campaign.

“We had the right reaction after the Walcot game but we’re going away to Combe Down now and we need to make sure that we prepare for that properly,” said Jeffries, whose team are currently fourth in the Southern Counties South table.

“We’ve tried to focus on having more control in games when we play away from home and that’s what we need to try and show.

“We won at Dockers and we won at Devizes, which isn’t exactly far away, so we know we need to improve our away form.”

Dan Smith, who scored two tries, got the ball rolling against Blandford, with Sam Edwards, Ashley Chalk, Lee Fairclough, Lewis Jordan, Kieran Blake, Shai Bonnick and Justin Reed all also dotting down.

Tom Weaver kicked four conversions, with brother Ollie also slotting one away.
