JOSH Jefferies isn’t quite sure how long his Frome Town side will continue to punch above their weight in the Southern League Premier Division but is enjoying the ride nonetheless.

The Robins followed up victory at second-placed Slough Town on December 3 by holding leaders Leamington to a goalless draw at Badgers Hill last weekend before winning 3-1 at Hayes & Yeading on Tuesday night.

Jake Jackson notched either side of Clayton Green’s strike to hand Frome all three points in west London and they now find themselves sixth in the table, four points off fifth-placed Merthyr Town but with a game in hand.

“We were a lot of peoples’ favourites top go down but the players have been tremendous for me, especially in the last few weeks,” said Jefferies.

“When you look at the budget and the finances that other teams in this league have, then we are definitely punching above our weight.

“Can we keep doing it? – I don’t know.

“You’d have to say that those teams with the bigger budgets and the bigger squads will usually come out on top but we’re not worrying about that and all we’re thinking about is trying to carry on what we’re doing.”

Frome go to 10th-placed Dunstable Town tomorrow and Jefferies does have some squad selection headaches for next Wednesday’s home clash with Cirencester Town.

The Robins boss said: “Darren Jefferies and Jon Davies are suspended for the midweek game and we might have some others that are away because it’s a rearranged match.”
