HOME player Joe Retford lifted the Cumberwell Junior Open prize at the Bradford on Avon course on Monday.

Retford posted a best gross score of 70 to take a two-stroke triumph over Tidworth’s Max Wrixon, with Chippenham’s Bradley Rossiter on 73. Tidworth’s Harry Moule was fourth after a 74.

More than 50 boys and 10 girls entered the event on bank holiday Monday, with Burnham & Berrow’s Ryan Bowden claiming the boys’ nett prize.

The 31 handicapper shot a 94 for a nett 63, ahead of Bath’s Kieran Bye (79-13=63) and Cumberwell’s Jake Meredith (86-22=64) and Rossiter (73-9=64). Upavon’s Rory Cameron claimed the U14 boys prize with 77, Meredith adding the nett prize.

Cumberwell’s Laura Curtis won the girls gross prize with 77, two strokes ahead of clubmate Jess Hays, with Meg Rossouw, of Yelverton, third with 81. Broome Manor’s Sammy Walls (83-17=66) won the nett prize, with Upavon’s Olivia Bannon the U14s gross winner.
