BATH Motor Club member Ross Whittock, co-driving for Junior European Champion Chris Ingram, took the two-wheel drive category at the three-day Wales Rally GB last weekend.

Whittock, a member of the Bath club that meets at Limpley Stoke, helped his duo to win no less than 12 minutes ahead of nearest rival Frenchman Raphael Astier – the World Rally Championship leader in the category.

Whittock said: "We knew we had to attack from the outset as Raphael has shown his speed during the year, as have the British Rally Championship contenders.

"We know we have a good car in the German-prepared Opel Adam, we just needed to trust our notes and each other’.

Whittock and Ingram dominated the class by finishing fastest on all of the 21 special forest stages before reaching the finish in Llandudno on Sunday.

The event also saw Elfyn Evans become the first British driver for 17 years to clinch the Wales crown, part of the World Rally Championship.
