WARMINSTER’S Jack Berrisford says skipper Pete Hickerton has some convincing to do after stand-in batsman Mark Coxon Tenty scored 96 in their WEPL Wiltshire win at Swindon.

Berrisford stood in for regular skipper Hickerton as the league leaders extended their run to 10 wins out of 10.

Much of the post-match praise fell to batsman Coxon Tenty, as he too stepped in as emergency batting cover before posting tally of 96 in the club’s 74-run win.

“It was another solid win, it was an interesting wicket because they had watered it a lot,” he said.

“It was a different challenge for us as a top order.

"The innings was dominated by Mark who keeps coming out of retirement as emergency cover.

“He batted absolutely beautifully and was then well supported by Dave Batemen who got a good 30.

“In the end it was a pretty comfortable victory to be honest.

“Now we just need to think about the next game, that is all that matters.

“There is still a lot of cricket to be played, Chippenham had a really good win and gained points on us, we aren’t thinking too far ahead.”

With regards to whether Warminster would be able to recruit Coxon Tenty on a more permanent basis, Berrisford says that is a decision Hickerton and the batsman need to have during the week.

“Bringing him back is a question for Pete I think. He is back in for the game at Calne on Saturday,” added Berrisford.

“He batted so well I think it will be silly to at least not have a chat about it but that is for Pete and Mark to discuss.

“All I can say is that he batted unbelievably well, especially for a guy who has only played two games all year, one of which was for the second team.

“I couldn’t speak highly enough of him, it was one of the best displays I have seen all year.”
