CORSHAM skipper Tom Foley praised the efforts of his lower order batsmen following Saturday’s two-wicket win over Burbage.

Foley’s men, who remain fourth in the Premier Two Glos/Wilts table, had Martin Roberts and Archie Easton’s ninth-wicket unbeaten partnership of 40 to thank as the visitors recovered to rescue a win from the jaws of defeat.

Set a target of 206, Corsham appeared in trouble when Sam Mitchell was the eighth man to fall with Foley’s side still 37 runs short of their target.

But Roberts and Easton played with patience to keep Corsham in with a chance of moving into the league’s top three.

Foley said: “It was great to win the way we did with Martin (Roberts) and Archie (Easton) batting the way they did at the end.

“Everyone chipped in which was good, and after they beat us at our place, it was nice to get a win back against them.

“We’re on a good little run at the moment.

“I said it at the start of the season, we want to keep pushing but you can’t expect too much.

“Anyone can beat anyone in this league. We have to take it game by game and see where we fall after.”

Elsewhere, Westbury’s grip on a place in the top half of the league weakened after they suffered a five-wicket loss at high-flying Thornbury.

Westbury opener Michael Coles fell to the second ball of the game before only Alex Senneck could pass 30 as the home side were restricted to 153 all out.

Thornbury made light work in reply, reaching their 154 target with more than 12 overs to spare.

Trowbridge, meanwhile, experienced better fortunes when beating Dumbleton by 86 runs.

Tom Weaver’s men reached 224-8 from their 50 overs before skittling the visitors out for just 138.

The result meant Weaver’s troops extended the gap between themselves and bottom club Lechlade to 32 points.
