WESTBURY Wheelers emerged victorious at the South West Region Club 10-mile Time Trial Championships.

Taking place on the race circuit at Castle Combe, the newly re-laid tarmac provided an ideal surface for all riders it was just the heat, humidity and wind that held them back.

The championship is not just about being the fastest, but by also doing well within differing ages groups which is where the Wheelers excelled.

Ten-year old Charlie Kemp was the youngest ever rider to compete for Westbury, while 11-year-old Dylan Neale also put in a great performance and Ken Price (aged 77) was the oldest in the race.

Westbury were also very strong in the female 55-59 class, where they recorded a one-two finish as Diane Hier led home Sandy Barton.

The rider of the day was William Hall, who won the junior category and set a PB on a borrowed bike.

Credit goes to all 30 members who contributed to the cause to ensure that the third position Westbury claimed in 2017 was surpassed with overall victory this year.

Prizes included a cheque for £300 as well as four entries to a prestigious 12-hour event at Brands Hatch in September.
