BRADFORD Town are targeting an FA Cup win to remedy Wednesday night’s 2-0 home defeat to Bitton in the Toolstation League Premier Division.

Manager Rob Mallett says after re-watching the game, he was pleasantly surprised with what he saw and says two mistakes cost them the game.

Tuesday’s loss came after the new boss made a winning start to life at Trowbridge Road, securing a 2-0 win over Cribbs on Saturday.

“I’ve watched the video of the game and it was frustrating to see because we controlled most of the game,” said Mallett.

“We made two mistakes in a few minutes that went punished, and when you’re playing a team like Bitton, who are going to be right up there, it’s those fine margins that make the difference.

“It is frustrating, but now I have watched it back, I can see the positives from it.

“I’ve been pleased with how things have come together, but I think we still want to add one or two more.

“If we could find a commanding centre back and a goal threat,we just need to fine tune.

“I’m also looking at the system and style to make sure we are creating chances.”

Saturday sees Bradford turn their attentions away from league and onto the FA Cup.

Roman St Glass stand in their way of progressing as the two go head-to-head in the extra preliminary round.

Mallett thinks a win is just what his side need after Tuesday’s result and claims his troops are clued up ahead of the tie.

“It’s a special competition and any footballer will want to take part in it,” he said.

“There are obvious huge financial rewards as well, so it is a big aim of ours to progress beyond the first round this season.

“In terms of Roman Glass, I watched them last season a couple of times and know they will carry a threat with the likes of Ryan Radford.

“I’ll be speaking to one of my old managers, Andy Black, who’s Cadbury Heath side played them last night to get a rundown on them so we go into it as prepared as we can be.

“Saturday gives us a perfect opportunity to bounce back from the midweek defeat.”
