WESTBURY United joint-manager Neil Kirkpatrick was delighted with his side after they recorded their second win of the season on Wednesday night.

Kirkpatrick’s side were 4-2 winners over Shepton Mallett in midweek, following their 3-1 win against Wellington on the opening day of the Toolstation League Premier Division season.

Striker Dan Kovacs stole the show with a hat-trick, while Callum Demkiv popped up late on with the fourth.

“I was really pleased with the performance against a very good Shepton side,” said Kirkpatrick.

“From front to back, the attitude, determination and ability has been fantastic.

“The players have put in two massive shifts. It’s a fine margin between making a good or bad start.

“We have had a horrendously disrupted pre-season, so we are delighted.

“We’re not getting carried away with it. I think the group we have got are all level-headed and they’re buying into what we want.

“It’s been a pleasure and we want to see that every week.

“You have to fight for every point and that is certainly what we have been doing so far.”

Next up, Westbury face Cribbs in the FA Cup extra preliminary round and Kirkpatrick says there is a lot at stake for both sides.

“The game is huge in terms of revenue it will bring into the club if we can get a win,” said Kirkpatrick.

“Everyone wants to be involved in the FA Cup but again, Cribbs are a good side and we are going to have to be right on it again.

“There are a lot of tired legs out there but we will regroup and hopefully we can get the win.

“The prize money is around £2,000, and for us, that is massive because it could probably set us up for the season.

“It’s great, they’re games we want to be involved in.”
