AROUND 300 runners lined up for the inaugural running of the Hullavington 10K, which was also been awarded the honour of being the Wiltshire county championship race over the distance as well as race seven in the 2018 Wiltshire Road Race League.

Leading from the start over the undulating course was Simon Nott, of Calne Running Club, who clocked a time of 32 minutes and 52 seconds to finish more than a minute ahead of second-placed Michael Towler, of Avon Valley Runners and Dan Thomas, of Cheltenham Harriers who completed the podium.

In the ladies race, Sian Thomas, from City of Salisbury A&RC, led the way to be crowned county champion in a time of 39.30 and well clear of Avon Valley's Veryan Cranston in the silver medal position and bronze medallist, Calne Running Club's Denise Nott.

The team prizes both went to Trowbridge-based Avon Valley Runners with Towler, Damian Spreckley and Gary Day for the men and Cranston, Anita Mellodew and Diane Hier for the ladies.

Age group awards went to Gary Dunstone, of Team Bath (MV40); Mellodew (FV40), Heath Bampton, of Royal Wootton Bassett Hounds (MV50), Hier (FV50), Neil Tiley, of Devizes Running Club (MV60) and Devizes RC's Caroline Horne (FV60).
