DAVID Howell will look to make the cut in consecutive European Tour events for the first time since June when he tees off in the first round of the D+D Real Czech Masters today.

Swindon star Howell finished in a tie for 24th place at last week’s Nordea Masters in Sweden, claiming his second best finish in what has been another up-and-down season amongst the continent’s elite golfers.

That was just the seventh time Howell has qualified for the weekend’s final two rounds in 16 European Tour events this season, although he can take heart in Prague this week as all of those previous successes have come in back-to-back tournaments.

After a disappointing three-tournament run in July, Howell is on the hunt for a second made cut in a row for the first time since doing so at the Italian Open and BMW International Open in Germany.

Broome Manor man Howell begins his campaign at Albatross Golf Resort at 11.35am BST this morning, teeing off his first round alongside Scotland’s Scott Jamieson and South African Dean Burmester.

Fellow Wiltshire players Laurie Canter and Jordan Smith are amongst the earliest starters today.

Canter, who plays out of Cumberwell Park in Bradford on Avon, tees off at 6.35am BST, starting off at the 10th hole, with Bowood’s Smith going out 10 minutes later, again beginning his round on the back nine.
