COUNTBACK was required to decide the boys’ championship winner in the 2018 Hills Wiltshire Junior Golf Championship at Swindon’s Broome Manor club.

Just one shot separated the top three players, with the gross 73 of Kyle Campbell (Wrag Barn) securing him the win over Max Wrixon (Tidworth) and Edward Alexander (Wrag Barn, 74).

The girls championship proved to be a clean sweep for Broome Manor players, as Olivia Bannon won with an impressive gross 70, Katie Walls second on gross 77 gross and Sammy Walls third on 79.

The best nett mixed prize saw three rounds of 68 as Harry Burton (Bowood) won on countback from Ben Mazzotta (The Wiltshire), with Macklin Hawkins (Broome Manor) third.

A total of 33 players took part in the 34th running of the event.

In the non-qualifying section of the day, five players aged under 10 took part in a nine-hole short course competition.

The winners were Toby Spedding (Broome Manor - nett 25) and Jack Mawer (Broome Manor - gross 33), followed by sisters Summer and Alicia Carash (Broome Manor) and Jamie Edney (Marlborough).
