DAVID Howell will hope to put in a strong showing at this week’s KLM Open in the Netherlands.

Last week, the 43-year-old missed out on the cut at the Omega Masters by a solitary shot.

The two-time Ryder Cup winner was also carrying a minor shoulder complaint during his time in Switzerland.

Howell tees off at 8.15 BST at The Dutch course at Spijk, alongside Matthew Southgate and Lasse Jensen.

Laurie Canter is also set to feature, he starts at 6.55 BST and will hope he can kick on from a superb tournament in Switzerland, where he finished tied 16th.

Canter, who plays out of Cumberwell Park, pocketed more than €31,000 for his efforts seven days ago.

He too starts on the opening hole and is joined by Scott Jamison and Davy Porsius this morning.

Derry Hill’s Jordan Smith returns to the Tour after sitting out last week’s event.

His last time out was at the start of the month when he featured in the Made In Denmark tournament, in which he came tied 20th with a score of 11 under-par.

Smith starts slightly later than his two Wiltshire colleagues, as he gets under way at 11.45 BST.
