WESTBURY United progressed to the first round proper of the FA Vase as they secured a 3-1 win at Petersfield Town.

The Wiltshire men took the lead just before the half-hour mark when Callum Demkiv’s neat dummy of Jordan Pinder’s cross allowed Joe Stradling to apply the finish, but Petersfield levelled courtesy of Harry Giles before half-time.

Westbury lost keeper Ed Baldy to injury and with no substitute gloveman Dan Jordan donned the gloves, but Demkiv’s finish took them back into the lead in the second period.

Stradling then crossed for Demkiv to head home the third and booked Westbury’s progress.

Malmesbury Victoria continued their hugely promising start to the campaign with a solid 3-1 win in their tie with Virginia Water.

Shane Bumphrey had an interesting afternoon, bagging a brace before being sent off for two yellow cards.

Sam Parker got Malmesbury’s other goal.

Corsham Town bowed out of the competition as they lost 2-1 after extra time at Fareham Town, Adam Shipman scoring for the visitors.

Warminster Town are also out, beaten 5-0 at Bridport, while Royal Wootton Bassett also had a weekend to forget as they were beaten 4-0 at home by Bashley.

Bradford Town’s Toolstation League Premier Division campaign hit a bump in the road as they were defeated 2-0 at home by Wellington, for whom it was a first Saturday away win for 14 months.

In the First Division, Calne Town were 2-0 winners at Keynsham Town, Dan Sibley and Rory Worthington on target for the Lilywhites, who have re-signed Kieron Gleed from Highworth Town.

Lee Smith scored in injury time to salvage a point for Pewsey Vale in their Division One West clash at Kidlington Development.

Smith and Connor Marsden had earlier cancelled out goals from Kidlington’s Jordan Parker and Jack Gaul, Smith doing likewise after Jimmy Deabill’s third for the home side.
