BRADFORD Town boss Wayne Thorne will not allow his players to get ahead of themselves, despite picking up a third successive Toolstation Premier Division win by beating Clevedon Town 3-0 at home on Saturday.

Charlie Maddison handed the Bobcats a first-half lead when hitting the back of Tyler Ashmead’s net on 40 minutes before second-half strikes by Martin Lenihan and Will Hailstone maintained Thorne’s 100 per cent record since taking charge at Trowbridge Road earlier this month.

Initial indications would point Bradford towards pitching for a promotion spot, but Thorne is keen to focus on securing a top-six place before setting his mind on any possible readjustment of the club’s aims.

He said: “Promotion is the goal for the time I’m at the club, it might not be this season but that’s what we’re looking to achieve.

“A top-six finish for me would be a great when you consider the start that the club has had.

“That’s what our goal is this season. The three games I’ve been in charge of, I have witnessed a great attitude. If we continue that then we should be fine.

“We’ve just given the lads some belief and confidence to date, and they’ve responded really well to it. They’ve shown great attitude and commitment to the club, and their work-rate has been really good.

“The level we’re at now, if you have those traits then you stand a chance. We’ve scored nine goals in the three games that I’ve been here, hopefully that continues.”

The Bobcats’ schedule fails to ease in the coming weeks as Thorne’s troops prepare to face table-topping Willand Rovers this weekend.

Saturday’s trip to Devon will provide Bradford with a tough test before a further away tie against Brockenhurst in the FA Vase follows a week later.

“The games don’t get any easier, and we have three or four out because of suspension or injury,” said Thorne.

“It’s up to the new lads that have come in to show that they are good enough and want to play for the club at this level.”
