PEWSEY VALE manager Alistair Tuttle labelled his side’s performance in their 4-1 win over Almondsbury in the Hellenic League Division One West as their “best of the season", writes JONATHAN LEIGHFIELD.

A brace of goals from Ryan Banks, a Josh Fowler strike and an own goal combined to give Pewsey all three points and lift them up to fifth in the table.

Vale are now unbeaten in their last seven league games and Tuttle has sights set on leading his troops to a high finish.

“It was very pleasing to get the win,” said Tuttle.

“The start of the season was tough, but now that we’ve got some of the big boys out of the way, we will hope that we can keep progressing and hopefully top our fourth-place finish from last season.”

The Vale manager was delighted with his side’s performance on Saturday and said that their ability to control the game was the driving force behind the result.

Tuttle said: “It was by far the best performance of the season. We never looked in any danger and were 3-0 up at half-time.

“We just kept the ball so well. We’ve had a problem this year where we’ve been giving it away shortly after winning it back and making it so much easier for the opposition.

“But on Saturday, we just kept control of the game and we made them work for it.”

Elsewhere in Division One West, Malmesbury Victoria lost 3-1 away at Clanfield, but there was better news for Royal Wootton Bassett Town in the Premier Division as goals from Daniel Lachacz and TJ Bohane helped them beat Ardley United 2-1.
