ZACH Wajtknecht is keen to keep developing as a rider after being signed up for a third successive season at the Swindon Robins.

The 20-year-old has been a hugely popular member of the Robins since he joined and boss Alun Rossiter had no hesitation in bringing back the hot prospect.

Wajtknecht is the final member of the Robins' line-up for the coming SGB Premiership season and joins 2017 world champion Jason Doyle, rider of the year Tobiasz Musielak, Troy Batchelor, Adam Ellis, Dawid Lampart and James Shanes at the Abbey Stadium next season.

Speaking to the Swindon Robins’ website, the youngster, who is just back from racing in Australia, said: “It’s great to be back. It’s my third successive season and I’m confident I can keep progressing.

“I want to do as best I can to repay the faith the club has shown in me. My form was OK at the Abbey, but I want to improve away from home next season.

“We have a strong looking side already for 2019. It’s great to have (Jason) Doyley back and a strong top three with him, Tobiasz and Troy.

“It was frustrating last season to miss out on the play-offs, but that makes us extra determined to make it next year.

“I’m still heavily jet-lagged, having got back from Australia on Tuesday. But it was a brilliant experience and I learnt so much. I’ve got to keep racing and I think that will help me start next season much sharper.”

Team boss Rossiter added: “He’s a really good kid and he listens which is always so important at his age.

“Zach is level-headed, and we’ve seen him get better all the time. I believe he can keep doing that and mature into a top rider.”
