WILTSHIRE golfer Jordan Smith began his 2019 schedule with a 100,000 Euros pay day after a strong performance at last week’s Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship.
Derry Hill’s Smith finished in a tie for 11th place at Abu Dhabi Golf Club in his first event on the European Tour this year to collect 100,413 Euros in prize money.
A superb six-under second round of 66 was the backbone of Smith’s lofty finish, with an opening level-par 72 and two rounds of 70 over the weekend seeing him to a 10-under total.
Ireland’s Shane Lowry won the tournament on 18-under par.
Smith will now turn his attentions to this week’s Dubai Desert Classic, which gets under way on Thursday.
