BRADFORD Town’s hopes of making ground on the Toolstation League Premier Division leaders were dented at the weekend as they lost 2-1 against promotion hopefuls Plymouth Parkway.

Wayne Thorne’s side went two goals behind before Lee Davidson pulled one back with 13 minutes of normal time remaining.

That proved too little too late for the Bobcats though, as they suffered their eighth loss of the season to remain on 40 points from 26 games.

Saturday’s game was plunged into doubt hours before kick-off as Parkway’s team coach broke down while en route.

The match was consequently delayed, with kick-off taking place at 3.30pm.

Chances came and went for both teams in the early exchanges, but neither managed to find a meaningful opening as the score remained locked at 0-0.

Will Hailstone then struck the post before Thorne’s side earned a penalty – which was twice denied as Hailstone’s kick from the spot was saved before a follow up effort was punched wide.

Another penalty shout was turned down before goalkeeper Jordan Dibble was called upon for the first time by making a well-timed save following a strike from the edge of the penalty area.

The visitors were then rewarded for their persistent efforts as Jordan Annear scored with 37 minutes played to hand Parkway a one-goal lead at half-time.

A quiet start to the second half granted Plymouth the opportunity to double their lead.

And they did just that when Jordan Trott netted just after the hour-mark had passed.

While the Bobcats pulled a goal back through Davidson, it proved insufficient as Plymouth earned the win.

Westbury United had no game at the weekend.
