WILTSHIRE School of Gymnastics’ Jessica Daykin picked up a bronze medal when she took on the country’s top tumblers at the English Championships.

Competing in the senior section at the O2 Arena against Olympians and World Championship medallists, Daykin produced a superb performance to finish third in the beam class.

First up was the floor competition, with Daykin producing a strong routine, before following that with a strong performance on vault and a good, clean effort on bars.

Proceedings finished on beam where Daykin needed minimal deductions and a clean execution, as well as showcasing a host of high-technical difficulty skills to snatch bronze on the apparatus – and she duly delivered.

Alongside that medal, Daykin finished sixth in the all-around competition as well further as top-10 finishes on floor (fifth) and bars (seventh).

Prior to that, 21 WSG gymnasts travelled to Liverpool to compete in the north section of the Miss Quatro event – known as the Angel of the North.

Amazing results were achieved in every category, resulting in a huge team win for the club and a reward of £500 to spend on equipment.

Daykin was again to the fore, stealing the show in the FIG section by producing a personal best score to win all-around gold.

In the compulsory section, WSG had three gymnasts competing and Maya Jakubowski led the way by winning all-around gold in Compulsory 2. Kai-Ann Sweeney took all-around gold at Compulsory 5, ahead of club-mate Lyla Linsey in the silver medal position.

In the national section, Summer Taylor performed outstandingly in the Level 4 competition to be crowned all-around champion, with Sorcha King close behind in third. At Level 3, Martha Green also took all-around gold, Jenna Caddy won bronze and Alexa Evans finished fifth.

In the Club and Regional competition, 13 Wiltshire gymnasts competed.

In Regional 1, Violet Browne won all-around gold, a result matched by Millie Knudsen in Regional 3. In Regional 4, Evie Wickham collected a silver medal and Jess Potter placed seventh.

In Club Grade 5, Erin Wintle was ninth, while in Club Grade 6, Freya Martin and Heidi Jakubowski finished joint-third, with Matilda Smith (sixth), Gracie Robinson (seventh), Vanessa Tabis (15th) and Asha Elloway (16th) also competing well.
