WILTSHIRE School of Gymnastics member Jess Daykin claimed a silver medal at the British Gymnastics Championships earlier this month.
Competing against the country’s best gymnasts – at an event that also saw double Olympic gold medallist Max Whitlock in action – Daykin’s heroics at the Liverpool Arena came on the beam.
The first day of competition marked as a qualifying run on all apparatus, with 17-year-old Daykin putting in an outstanding performance to reach the finals of the floor and beam sections.
On finals day, West Lavington’s Daykin completed a clean floor routine to gain a respectable score, but she went even better on the beam with a superb performance rewarded by a silver medal.
