TROWBRIDGE’S Sarah Wilson picked up a gold medal when she travelled to Portugal to take part in PentathlonGB’s Under-19 training camp.

The week-long camp was followed by a tetrathlon competition, in which Wilson came out on top.

The 17-year-old was selected to attend the camp after topping the table at the first two ranking competitions.

She produced a fine performance despite having to take a few weeks out of training to recover from injury.

During the post-camp competition, Wilson came away with 19 victories and just seven defeats from the opening fencing rounds – her best-ever set of results in an international competition.

Attention then turned to the 200m swim heats, where a steady time of 2mins 28secs put Wilson in second place overall going into the laser-run leg.

The handicapped start meant she set off 45 seconds behind the leader, but that did not faze Wilson as her cool shooting and speedy runs saw her snatch the lead on the final 800m loop to claim the gold medal.
