WROUGHTON moved to the brink of the Wiltshire League Premier Division title with a dominant 5-0 win over bottom side Devizes Town Reserves at the weekend.

The Weir Field side are nine points clear at the top, so can clinch the crown with a draw away at nearest challengers Kintbury Rangers in their final league game on May 7.

However, Rangers have three games in hand so should they beat Wroughton and take maximum points from their other two fixtures, the destination of the title will come down to goal difference.

Tyler Wilkinson was the star of the show for Wroughton against Devizes, scoring four goals, while Tom Price added the other.

Kintbury kept them honest with a 3-1 victory at Royal Wootton Bassett Town Development.

George Smith scored all three goals for Kintbury, with Bailey Gallagher pulling one back for Bassett.

Cricklade Town also put in a five-star showing at the weekend to beat Corsham Town Reserves 5-0.

Max Scholefield, Jason Tatum, Jonathan Peachey-Score, Kris Redford and Daniel Bond all hit the target.

That result slightly bettered the one recorded by Purton as they thrashed visiting Ludgershall Sports 5-1.

George Drewitt scored a hat-trick for Purton and there was one each for Will Backhouse and Jack Duckers. Sam Walsh replied.

A solitary goal from Aaron Masson secured Trowbridge Town a 1-0 win at home to Marlborough Town.

Finally, Football ID and Pewsey Vale Development shared a 2-2 draw – a point that saw the latter climb off the bottom.
