Trowbridge Town 2, Blueprint Chiseldon 0

TROWBRIDGE Town booked a place in the next round of the Wiltshire Senior Cup despite an unconvincing performance at home to Blueprint Chiseldon.

The Bees never hit top form against their opponents but goals from Matt Minnis and Dave Appleyard were enough to see them through in a 2-0 win.

Trowbridge are now unbeaten in five games in all competitions.

Paul Shanley's side pulled through after an first half scare against Blueprint when the referee awarded a penalty with 30 minutes gone for a tackle by Aaron Salter.

Blueprint missed their opportunity and immediately Trowbridge made them pay when a ball over the top found Minnis who poked home to give his side the lead.

It stayed the same until 10 minutes from time when Dave Appleyard headed in from a corner to seal the win.

Trowbridge manager Paul Shanley said he would take nothing more out of the game than the result.

Shanley said: "It wasn't one of our better performances. We huffed and puffed but didn't really do a lot.

"It was a really drab game. W played well within ourselves and didn't get going at all.

"We dropped down to their level but we are in the next round of the cup and that's all I can say about it really."

Shanley said he was grateful for Blueprint's spot kick blunder.

Shanley said: "It was probably the worst penalty I have ever seen. It was about 10 yards wide and it brought a laugh out of the crowd it was that bad."
