SWINDON Town have completed their third signing of the summer by snapping up defender Zeki Fryers on a free transfer.

The left-back has put pen to paper on a two-year deal at the Energy Check County Ground following his release from Barnsley at the end of last season following their promotion back to the Championship.

Fryers’ arrival follows previous deals completed by Town boss Richie Welles for fellow full-back Tyler Reid and midfielder Adam May, the latter signing on a season-long loan from Portsmouth in League One.

Fryers arrives at SN1 boasting pedigree at the very top of the game.

The 26-year-old made six first-team appearances for Manchester United after coming through the ranks at Old Trafford and has also had spells at fellow Premier League sides Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace in his career.

Speaking to Town's official website, Fryers said: “I'm really happy. I can't wait to get started.

"Everything the gaffer has said to me I believe in – I met him last week and we have the same vision."

Town boss Wellens added: “It's a potentially fantastic signing – if you look at his career, he's had some huge clubs. That shows the talent he's got.

"This is a good chance for him to play week in, week out, and get some real consistency in his game."
