CHIPPENHAM’S Gareth Roberts is off to a flying start this superbike racing season as he competes in the Thundersport GB Championships.

Roberts, a quantity surveyor at Persimmon Homes Wessex, has been competing and racing on the track for the last three years.

The 25-year-old is currently ranked fourth overall in the 2019 pre-national championships with three rounds left to go.

Roberts’ interest in the sport was sparked by his Dad, and his family’s love for motorbikes and racing.

“So far this season it has been a mixed bag of ups and downs,” said Roberts.

“I secured a race victory in the first round, but unfortunately fell in round two and dislocated my shoulder, which meant I was out for that race.

“Now we are halfway through the season, I sit first in the freshman class and fourth overall in the pre-national championship.

“I’m really happy with that and look forward to seeing what the rest of the race season brings.

“It’s great to have my employer as one of my sponsors and the support from my colleagues has been wonderful.”

Richard Briggs, managing director for Persimmon Homes Wessex, said: “It’s very exciting to hear all about Gareth’s success and we’re delighted to be his sponsor for this race season.

“Staff have rallied to support him, and we wish him every success in the upcoming races.”
