BRADFORD on Avon broke their duck for the season in Dorset & Wilts One North at the sixth time of asking last weekend with a battling 7-0 success at home to Trowbridge 2nd.

The Ashley Lane side began the campaign with a run of five successive defeats but this maiden win has lifted them off the foot of the table.

Rain took its toll on the majority of matches but the sodden conditions did not hold back Warminster as they roared to a 33-3 victory away at Sutton Benger.

Reid Curtis got the ball rolling for the visitors with the opening try, converted by Ni Butler, before Dan Woods got the second touchdown of the afternoon.

Warminster were forced to contend with a yellow card to captain Steve Rowbotham as the first half drew to a close and Benger capitalised to cut the gap with a penalty.

However, the Amber and Blues soon seized back the initiative and scored their third try through Jack McIntyre, with Gavin Kaminsky-Pratt taking over from the tee as his conversion pushed the lead to 19-3 at half-time.

The one-way traffic continued in the second half and Warminster brought up their bonus point courtesy of a penalty try.

Dan McIntyre then ran in the visitors’ fifth touchdown of the game, with the scoring rounded off by another Kaminsky-Pratt conversion.

Finally, Melksham made it a good day all round for local clubs as they secured a 24-5 success at home to Royal Wootton Bassett 2nd.
