WITH clubs involved in Wiltshire Junior Cup action, only two games took place in Division One of the Trowbridge Windows and Conservatories-sponsored Trowbridge & District League.

Second-placed Devizes Town Reserves came from behind to beat Freshford United 3-2 to close the gap on leaders Marshfield to two points, although they have played a game more.

Two goals from Gus Wright gave Freshford a 2-1 advantage at half-time before Devizes fought back to take the points. Wayne House, Bradley Whitbread and Darren Lewis were on the scoresheet for Devizes.

Warminster Town Reserves hosted Melksham Town A, and with both teams looking for their first league win this season, it was Warminster who broke their duck with a 4-3 success.

Sam McEntee led the way for Warminster by helping himself to two goals as Lewis Youngman and Phil Curtis grabbed one each. Two goals for Morgan Akerman and one from Will Jacomb were not enough for Melksham, who remain rooted to the foot of the table.

Division Two

KEW PR made it seven wins out of seven after beating a strong Trowbridge Town Reserves side 2-1.

KEW took the lead on 10 minutes with a smart finish from Nick Ross and Shaun Percival sealed victory after the break with a far-post header. Jamie Strevens was the Trowbridge scorer.

Aces moved up to fourth after beating third-placed Calne Eagles 2-1.

Kegan Smart, from the penalty spot, and Matt Malia were Aces' scorers, while Jack Boyd-Cox replied for Calne.

Westbury United Reserves returned to form with a bang following a 7-1 thumping of Dilton Marsh Wanderers.

Leading the way was Ollie Dew as he found the net four times. Nathan McCafferty, Ed Leeson and Marc Lanfear added one each to make up the seven, while Wanderers’ consolation was scored by Adam Welch.

Wiltshire Junior Cup

IN an all Trowbridge League tie, Semington Magpies beat Staverton United 2-1 to move into the next round of the county cup.

A minute’s silence was held before kick-off in memory of former Semington player Adrian Bourne, who sadly passed away recently.

Chris Berrelly opened the scoring for Semington before Jordan Field increased the lead with a well-struck free-kick. Kye Teague reduced the arrears for Staverton before the break but Semington proved too strong in the second half as they held on for the win.

Warminster United and fellow Trowbridge League side Heytesbury also met, and it was the former who edged into the next round after winning a close game 2-1 after extra time.

Owen Bartley scored from the penalty spot to put Warminster into a lead they held until three minutes from the end when Corey Gardner equalised for Heytesbury to send the match into an extra 30 minutes. The game looked to be heading for a penalty shoot-out until Chris Bridel settled matters in the 116th minute to send Warminster into the next round.

Three Daggers came alive in extra-time in their clash against Swindon League team Priory Vale. Drawing 2-2 after 90 minutes, Daggers scored four times in the additional half-hour to run out 6-2 victors.

Jake Packer and Jack Hayward got two goals each and Phil Hampson and Max Whittaker were also on target to send Daggers through.

The Stiffs bowed out of the competition after losing 5-0 to Swindon League side North Swindon.

Gloucestershire Intermediate Cup

MARSHFIELD continued their excellent season by moving into the quarter-finals of the Gloucestershire Intermediate Cup after beating Shaftesbury Crusade Reserves 2-0.

A goal each from Tom Richards and Matty Harvey sent Marshfield through.
