BULL AND BETTLES DOING THE JOB AS CALNE TOWN RESERVES UNBEATEN RUN CONTINUES

DIVISION ONE

Calne Town Reserves are the in-form team in the Trowbridge Windows and Conservatories-sponsored Division One, inflicting a first league defeat on Marshfield.

Calne Town Reserves led by Tom Bull and George Bettles extended their unbeaten run to five league matches with a 2 – 0 win over the championship contenders.

After a goalless first half, strikes from Brett Fairclough and Adam Sullivan secured the points in an impressive victory for Calne Town Reserves.

Heytesbury remain in third place in The Trowbridge Windows and Conservatories sponsored Division One, running out 5 – 1 victors after their visit to improving Melksham Town ‘A’.

After an even first 15 minutes, a cross from Corey Gardner was pushed onto the bar by the Melksham keeper for Mike Payne to head home on the line.

Payne scored his second six minutes later, receiving a pass from Jake Wright he ran between two defenders to score with his left foot as the keeper approached.

Melksham were left to rue two missed chances before the break as they went into the break two goals down and three minutes into the second half were denied again when Sam Spratt saved well with his feet as they put pressure on the Heytesbury goal.

In the 55th minute, Melksham got their reward for some good football when Tom Thomson pulled one back with an excellent shot across the goal into the far corner.

Heytesbury started to settle down after that and a quick free kick on the halfway line from Craig Sheppard found Jake Wright to restore the two-goal advantage.

In the 84th minute, Heytesbury broke the Melksham resistance when Sheppard played the ball across the box for Sean Snook to blast home from six yards.

With just three minutes left on the clock Myles Woodward scored the fifth slotting home from the spot after he was brought down in the box.
