SWINDON Town manager John Sheridan admitted he is eyeing up a new striker with the January transfer window four weeks away.

The 56-year-old is keen to see his squad all return to full health before he makes any final decisions on new personnel, but attacking options are perhaps unsurprisingly at the top of Sheridan’s wish list.

Specific names are yet to be identified though as he and Town’s director of football, Paul Jewell are set to meet to discuss transfer targets next week.

Sheridan said: “I think I know the positions I’d like to strengthen. I’ve spoken to Paul Jewell already regarding that, and we’ll sit down next week and identify the players we want.

“Whether you get these players or not is another thing, but you’ve got to identify the areas most in need first, and then we’ll go and see what’s available for the areas I feel we need to strengthen.

“I think we need another striker, without doubt. We are scoring goals and creating chances, but if there are players available who I think would make us a better team, we’ll try and get them in the door.”
