ROYAL Wootton Bassett Town were one of just three Wiltshire teams to progress into the second round of FA Vase qualifying last weekend.

Sam Collier's men edged past Knaphill, while Bradford Town and Corsham Town also won as five other sides in the county were dumped out.

Joe Selman scored the only goal midway through the first half as Bassett booked a date away at Portishead Town on September 25.

Bradford Town beat Wincanton Town 3-0 at Trowbridge Road after a couple of late goals sealed the deal despite Charlie Wiles-Richards sending off midway through the second half.

George Box scored seven minutes before the break, and Jacob Brown and Tyson Pollard scored in the dying embers to book the Bobcats a fixture against local rivals, Odd Down.

Corsham Town were the final team to make it through to the second round of qualifying after a 1-0 win away at Folland Sports. Kieran Baggs' side will now take on Hamworthy United at home.

There was no such success for Westbury United - who lost 4-1 at home to Alresford Town - or Malmesbury Victoria, who lost 4-2 at home to Tuffley Rovers.

Fairford Town lost 3-2 away at Tuffley, while Shrivenham went down 3-0 away at Frimley Green. Calne Town lose 4-1 at home to Whitchurch United.

Meanwhile, in Hellenic League action, Corsham and Bradford won again in midweek while Bassett lost 3-1 to Bishops Cleeve and Westbury drew 2-2 with Roman Glass St George.

Bradford beat Lydney Town 4-2 away, and Corsham resisted a second-half fightback from Hallen to triumph 3-2 at the Southbank via goals from Tom Stocks, Matt Swann, and Gary Higdon.
