Devizes Town clinched a hard-fought 2-1 victory against Welton Rovers, despite a performance that left much to be desired.
The match took place in the league at the Devizes side's home ground.
Manager Chris Allen acknowledged that his side was "nowhere near" the levels displayed in their impressive midweek win over Sturminster Newton.
Jacob Reader and Jon Bazley put the home side ahead with two quick goals early in the second half.
However, the youthful and well-organised Rovers responded with a stunning long-range strike from thirty yards, narrowing the deficit to 2-1.
This left Devizes hanging on in the closing stages, as they were forced to defend resolutely against a determined Welton side that threw everything at them.
Allen remarked that a two-goal lead becoming a one-goal advantage is a "horrible score line," but he was relieved that his team managed to hold on for the win, contrasting it with a previous match against Warminster.
Despite the less-than-stellar display, this victory marks two home wins in a week for Devizes.
Allen praised Welton for their improved organisation and expressed optimism about their competitiveness in the league following a challenging previous season.
Looking ahead, Devizes will prepare for a difficult away trip to Shrivenham, with hopes of having more players fit and available for the challenge.
