One week remains in the summer transfer window, so what should be expected from Swindon Town as they look to complete their squad?
After a summer in which eight players have arrived, Swindon have been relatively busy in finding new faces, but that work is not yet done.
Ian Holloway presently has a squad of 25 senior players, plus Louis Millard and Lucas Griffiths-Brown, but with long-term injuries to Gavin Kilkenny, Fletcher Holman, and Harry Smith, the effective squad is more like 22 players.
At the start of the window, Holloway made clear that he wanted a group of 24 or 25 players, so there is still work to be done.
In this last week, the expectation is that Swindon will be after two more additions, with the main priority being another attacker, with options, including a League One loanee, being assessed at present.

Holloway presently has a smorgasbord of attacking options to pick from, with the pace of Joseph Hungbo, Aaron Drinan, and Paul Glatzel, the craft of Jaylan Pearman and Joe Snowdon, and the physical presence of Ollie Palmer. The further addition is thought to be targeting another versatile forward with the kind of pace and pressing ability to fit into the side.
The other option may have to be opportunistic, with Swindon looking at those who have now been deemed surplus to requirements elsewhere. They have used up all five of their matchday loan slots, but Holloway has said that he would have no problem going for a sixth if it was the right player. Working out a deal to sign a player permanently would be best, as Town have previously done for Connor Ripley and Palmer.
Holloway will also be looking at another box-to-box midfielder or a full-back, but who ends up coming off will be down to who is available. In January, Swindon went after Wrexham’s Elliot Lee, who is still out of favour at Y Cae Ras, although they have not gone back in for him to this point.
The budget remains to make the necessary additions, although the majority of Swindon’s spending is behind them. One of the lessons that Holloway learned from last season was that he wanted to have enough to spend in January to be flexible, and so he would ideally have some left over for that.
There is unlikely to be anyone leaving. No bids have arrived for Aaron Drinan yet, and this late in the window, it would take something outrageous to make a deal happen.
