CORSHAM TOWN needed extra-time to book their place in the quarter-finals of the Wiltshire Senior Cup.
Mel Gingell’s side ran out 2-1 winners over Warminster Town on Wednesday night.
There was late drama aplenty on a wet and windy Warminster night and the game remained goalless up until the 78th minute.
Corsham took the lead through Dan Baker’s volley and it looked as though Gingell’s men would hold on for the win.
But with two minutes to go, Corsham were stunned by an equaliser from Jason Guy’s men.
A cross from the right flank was headed in by striker Louis Sparey, forcing extra-time.
Corsham had a host of chances to win the game, with Craig Gingell hitting the crossbar and goalscorer Baker squandering a close-range chance.
But the match was settled late on with Lee Fernandez’s spectacular free-kick sending Corsham through to the quarter-finals.
Gingell’s men now turn their attentions to the Les Phillips Cup when they face Almondsbury UWE on Saturday while Warminster are up against Andover New Street in the Wessex League.
