Trowbridge Academy of Boxing held its second club show of the season at the Westbury Country Parkin front of a sell-out crowd.
There were 17 Amateur Boxing Association of England bouts, of which seven included boxers from the Trowbridge Academy.
First up for Trowbridge was Harry Bryant, who lost a narrow points decision to Said Eltuev, from Walcot ABC in Swindon.
Joe Edwards had the best performance of his career to date, with a comfortable points decision over James Young from Apex ABC in Newbury.
Head coach Steve Bryant said: “I was really pleased with Joe, who has battled with pre-bout nerves since starting boxing. He has the potential to become one of our best boxers.’’ Billy Bartlett lost giving his all against a strong Bristol opponent, while Larry Ward boxed one of the top ranked boys in the country in their age group, Connor Hutchings.
Ward ended the first round ahead against the Apex ABC fighter.
The second round was close, but Hutchings took over in the third to overcome his points deficit. The two are set to meet again in Bristol in December.
Corey Smitherman was too strong for Ali Hamza, from Eastleigh ABC in Hampshire, in a unanimous decision.
The Price brothers were also both in action, Johnno winning a narrow points decision over Jay Barford, from Weston-super-Mare, and Marcus out-boxing Josh Baker, from Broad Plain ABC in Bristol.
Several Trowbridge boxers will be in action again on Saturday in Chippenham at the Malmesbury ABC annual show at the Chippenham Olympiad. Contact Tony Stannard on 07876 201182 for details.
