TROWBRIDGE & District League Division Three side Boomsbury FC were made to wait 40 minutes by their Wiltshire Junior Cup opponents Enford, who play in the Salisbury & District league Premier Division.

But after kicking off late, Enford were left wishing they had never made the trip to North Bradley as Boomsbury battered their guests 8-1.

Scott Askew set Boomsbury on their way and a first-half treble from Pete Spong as good as had the tie sewn up despite Enford scoring a first-half consolation.

The second period was all Boomsbury as they scored a further four goals.

Askew added a second to his first-half opener, Jamie Young scored twice and Andil Bakali’s single made up the eight for a Boomsbury side who travel to Wiltshire League first division side Byrons Wanderers for their third round game.

Byrons Wanderers 3 Chippenham Old Boys 2

BYRONS Wanderers, who accounted for Calne Eagles in the first round, claimed the scalp of first division side Chippenham Old Boys in their second round match.

Wanderers trailed 2-0 to goals from Shane Bell and James Pope but got themselves back in the contest before half time and progress to a meeting with Boomsbury thanks to two second-half goals

Chiseldon FC v Castle Combe - walkover to Castle Combe

Seend United 4 Trowbridge Wanderers 4 (AET, Seend United won 7-6 on penalties)

THE all-Trowbridge League First Division affair between Seend United and Trowbridge Wanderers saw the former progress, but only after a nail biting penalty shootout which they won 7-6 after 90 and 120 minutes failed to come up with a winner despite eight goals being scored. Wanderers led an entertaining first half 2-1 thanks to goals from Mike Johnson and Tom Pang with Seend scoring via a Nick Cape penalty.

The second half saw Pang score his second for Wanderers but two more penalties from Cape took the game to extra time where Joe Flower scored to put Seend 4-3 ahead.

With time running out Wanderers keeper Liam Newble got on the end of a clearance and fired the ball home through a crowd of players to tie the score and take the game to penalties where Mark Scammell missed his kick for Wanderers, which sent Seend through to round three where they visit fellow Division One side The Deverills.

Semington Magpies 2 Swindon Nalgo 3

SEMINGTON Magpies were beaten 3-2 at home by Wiltshire League First Division side Swindon Nalgo, who came from behind to claim their victory.

Mark James saw his first-half opener for Semington cancelled out by their visitors who then took the lead before James restored parity with a stunning 30 yard piledriver.

But although Magpies were back in the game they fell behind again when Nalgo netted what proved to be the winner 20 minutes from time.

Oaksey 2 The Deverills 3

FIRST Division The Deverills had to make the mammoth trip to Cirencester First Division outfit Oaksey, but the journey back to Wiltshire was sweet after their 3-2 victory, which came despite playing three quarters of the game with 10 players following the dismissal of Simon Farrell.

Mike Payne put the Deverills one up but Oaksey drew level before half time and took the lead in the second period before Brett Ball restored parity for the Deverills when he scored from the penalty spot.

With Deverills buoyed by Ball’s equaliser went for the win and deservedly got it thanks to second from Bell which also came from the penalty spot.

The Lamb 0 Worton & Cheverell 11

SECOND Division Worton and Cheverell defeated fellow Trowbridge League side the Lamb 11-0, but after 45 minutes the third division side were only trailing 2-0 with both goals coming from Myles Hickton.

The floodgates opened in the second half as Worton found the net another nine times.

Hickton scored again to complete his hat-trick, Oliver Hickton also scored a three-timer, Jamie Sandy, Stuart Swan, Richard Tandy, Daniel Lyons and Sam Lumley shared the other five.

VBA Rangers 2 Freshford United 3

FRESHFORD United took their league form into their cup match at Swindon Premier League outfit VBA Rangers, who must have thought they were looking good for a place in the third round after they took a two-goal lead.

But they didn’t allow for the battling qualities of Hughie Fulton’s men who fought back to claim a 3-2 success.

Richie Bliha started the Freshford revival when he fired home from the penalty just before the interval to get Freshford back into the cup tie.

Chris Birleson squared things up and Phil Little scored the all-important third goal for the villagers that earned them a well deserved but hard earned place in the final 16. Freshford travel to Old Town Globe in the third round.
