DARREN Perrin has revealed that he has lodged an audacious attempt to sign Chippenham Town hotshot Lewis Powell.

Frome Town have lodged a seven-day bid for the 21-year-old Welshman, who netted 15 league goals for the Bluebirds last season and in the previous campaign.

Powell has been on the bench for both of Chippenham's opening two league games and the Frome chief says that the striker represents the calibre of player he is hoping to bring to Badgers Hill this season.

“I know that Lewis Powell hasn't been starting at Chippenham but he's their player and we'll do everything by the rules and regulations and I definitely won't be trying to speak to him without their permission,” said Perrin.

“It's definitely an audacious bid but that's exactly the kind of player that I want to bring to this club.

“We've got other targets as well but because Darren White has been the subject of two approaches himself, I need to look at someone to replace him – we've been doing our homework on a lot of players who aren't necessarily getting a game at their clubs.

“A lot of it depends on what Adie (Mings) wants to do, so we'll have to wait and see if we'll be able to bring him in.”
