MOREDON Cheney put an end to AFC Bradford’s run of high-scoring victories when they held them to a 4-4 draw in a dramatic last 10 minutes at the County Ground extension, writes RAY BURROUGHS.

Having netted 27 goals in their first four games, Wiltshire League Premier Division high-flyers Bradford were soon on attack and took a 2-0 lead thanks to efforts from Tom Rooney and Dan Fowler.

However, the home side rallied to pull a goal back on the stroke of half time through Ashley Gascoigne.

A well-placed header from Jake Lloyd soon after the restart brought the sides level, but a penalty from Tom McKinder and another strike from Rooney looked to have sewn the game up for the visitors.

The Swindon side then found themselves down to 10 men after their keeper was forced off through injury, and assistant boss David Price, an earlier substitute, took his place between the sticks.

In a dramatic late rally, Jamie Ashby pulled a goal back and Lloyd scored a second on 90 minutes to snatch a draw for the home side.

Moredon boss Lee Ashby said: “That was an amazing result. We kept playing, scored two great goals and could have nicked a winner.

“I couldn’t fault the lads, they never gave up.”

FC Sanford recorded a 1-0 victory over neighbours Wroughton, with the only goal of the game coming from Terry Moore in the first half.

Joint Sanford manager Les Gill was full of praise for the visitors, saying: “Wroughton had a bit of a trouncing in midweek, but they certainly bounced back well and gave us a hard time.”

Purton Reserves put an end to Ludgershall Sports’ unbeaten start to the season, beating the home side 3-2.

Nick Camden scored twice, his second hitting the underside of the bar twice before going over the line, while Danny Broadbanks scored the winner with his head in the second half.

Southbrook were beaten 3-2 on their own ground by visitors AFC Amesbury.

Marlborough Town looked home and dry against Corsham Town Reserves as they led 3-0 midway through the second half, courtesy of two goals from Liam Byfield and a 20 yarder from Chris Dean.

But the visitors pulled two goals back in the closing stages through John Francome and Sam Preston, and deep into injury time they added an equaliser direct from a corner.

Devizes Town were awarded three penalties against Blyskawica with Craig Townsend converting two and missing the other.

However he made up for the miss by netting a third to give the home side a 3-0 victory.

FC Chippenham Youth scrambled to a 4-2 victory over Shrewton, Joe Forrester scoring twice, with further goals from Mike Coulson and Tom Jones.

Intel were top scorers in Division One, thrashing Marlborough Town Reserves 9-0.

Old Town Wanderers beat Wroughton Reserves 5-3 and Byron Wanderers gained a 5-4 away win over FC Chippenham Reserves.
