AFC BRADFORD continue to top the Premier Division table following a hard-fought 3-0 victory over visitors Marlborough Town, writes RAY BURROUGHS.

The home side just about had the edge over their opponents and had a match winner in striker Mark Robinson, who scored all three goals making the game safe with two good strikes in the second half.

Calne Town moved up to second spot with a narrow 1-0 win over visitors Ludgershall Sports.

In a dour first half the only goal of the game came from a 20 yarder by Mark Dolman a couple of minutes before the break.

The home side were made to work hard to defend their advantage after the interval as the visitors piled on the pressure but they defended stoutly to ensure the points.

FC Chippenham Youth and AFC Amesbury shared the points in a 2-2 draw, Will Fisher saving the home sides blushes with a speculative effort from 40 yards in the final minute of the game.

Earlier a header by Ben Wickens put Chippenham in the lead but the visitors fought back to score twice and look to be heading for victory.

A relieved home boss Dave Ferris said: “ I think a draw was a pretty fair result.

"It was two young sides getting the ball down and playing some good football and obviously we were quite pleased to have snatched a point.”

Visitors Shrewton held Wroughton to a 2-2 draw, the home side being down to 10 men for much of the second half, following the dismissal of Craig Dixon for a second bookable offence.

James Brown and Dean Hughes on target for the home side.

Vale of Pewsey were beaten 5-1 at home by Moredon Cheney, Nolan Paul scoring three times in the first 20 minutes with Barry Sheddon adding a fourth before the break.

The home side never gave up and pulled a goal back soon after the restart, but the recovery was short-lived as the Swindon visitors added a fifth through Rob Curtis.

Two goals from Tom Kopinski and one from John O’Sullivan gave Blyskawica a 3-0 victory over Corsham Town Reserves, while in the first round of the Corsham Print Senior Cup, Purton Reserves and Southbrook were level on a goal apiece after extra time with victory eventually going to Southbrook in a penalty shootout.

In the first round of the Fountain Trophies Junior Cup, newcomers to the league Box Rovers gained a 5-1 away win over Ramsbury and in Division 1 Marshfield were made to pull out all the stops against visitors Ashton Keynes before running out winners 3-2.

There were also good results for Malmesbury Vics Reserves, who beat Lower Stratton 5-1 and FC Chippenham Reserves, who accounted for Moredon Cheney Reserves 2-1.
