EIGHTY anglers lined the the Bristol Avon at Melksham on Sunday for the Avon and Chippenham Open Pairs match.
Top honours went to Pete Townsend of Swindon with 23lb 4oz of chub, followed by Tony Creech, of Blackmore Vale MG, with 21lb 6oz of chub. Alan Jones from Gloucester was third with bream, roach and skimmers weighing 18lb 7oz.
The pairs winners were Phil Stone and Jones, from Gloucester, with a maximum two points.

SUNDAY’S Wilts Angling Open match on Gillingham’s new lake at Mere saw Pete Neate from Holt win with 38lb 4oz of small carp.
Mick Martin from Trowbridge was runner up with 24lb 8oz of carp, followed by Dave Bancroft of Trowbridge with 10lb 12oz.
Other placings: 4. Mick Gunning Trowbridge 9 lb 8 oz; 5. Richard Brimble Westbury 9 lb 6 oz; 6. Jim Butcher Bradford 5 lb 0 oz.
TONY Weeks carried off top prize at Sunday’s Lavington match at Baldham Mill with roach, dace and gudgeon weighing 3lb 8oz.
Kevin Morris from Devizes took 2lb 15oz of roach and dace for second and there was a tie for third between Ray King from Worton and Don Keates from Hilperton with 1lb 13oz of roach, dace and gudgeon.
Other placings: 5. Ray Sheridan Devizes 1lb 9 oz; 6. Andy Jones Devizes 1 lb 7 oz.
KEVIN Rowles of Devizes topped the third round of the Upper Thames Winter League match on the Kennet & Avon Canal with carp, skimmers and bream weighing 29lb 3oz 8dm.
