TITLE-CHASING Frome Town suffered a double blow in their Toolstation League Premier Division match at Devizes Town.
The Robins went down to a surprise 1-0 defeat and also lost Joe Gomes with a serious knee injury that could see him out of action for a long time.
Gomes was injured in the second half when he went to collect the ball to take a quick free-kick only to crumple to a heap in agony on the floor. An ambulance was called and the young midfielder was taken to hospital with suspected ligament and cartilage damage.
With Frome having already using all their substitutes, their ten men were then caught out at the back on the break and, after Lee Bowen had sent a warning to the Robins by firing wide when well placed, Danny Powell latched on to a through ball to coolly curl the ball around Ray Johnston for the only goal.
