ANGLING: BATHAMPTON maintained their fine start to the season in the South West Winter League in the match fished on the Bristol Avon from Newbridge to Kelston.
Sensas Bathampton A took top spot with 57 points, followed by Sensas Thyers with 55 and Avon Angling with 53.
Individual honours on the day went to Paul Cope, of Sensas Thyers, with a mixed bag of roach and skimmers weighing 23lb 1oz, taken on pole-fished casters.
After a slow start to the match Colin Ellaway, of Bristol AC, clinched second spot with a mixed bag of roach and bream weighing 17lb 12oz, taken alternating with pole and legered worm and casters.
He was followed by Steve Partridge, of Maver Veals, with a mixed bag of roach and skimmers weighing 15lb 9oz, taken on pole-fished red maggots.
Other placings: 4 Steve Saunders, Sensas Bathampton A, 15lb 2oz; 5 Steve Caswell, Avon Angling, 14lb 2oz; 6 Ray Bazeley, Bristol AC, 13lb 8oz.
