Under 9 Div 4
Melksham Robins 2 Devizes Town B 1

The forth meeting of these teams this season produced yet another great game and close encounter but for the first time it was Melksham who ended victorious.

The game started well for Melksham who pinned Devizes back into there own area but despite there dominance in possession they never really troubled the visitors keeper, who was well protected by his defence.

Devizes slowly got themselves going and the game began to flow from end to end, but with goalscoring chances at a premium. The first goal of the game came after 15 mins when Luke Carey was on hand to fire his first goal for the club following some neat passing in the build up.

The goal seemed to deflate Melksham and boost Devizes, who finished the half strongly, but despite some good approach play could not score again.

Melksham must have had a rousing half time team talk because the came out fighting and were first to everything. Some resolute defending seemed to have kept Melksham at bay but then just as Devizes were beginning to match there opponents hunger for the ball an uncharacteristic mistake from there keeper gifted Melksham an equaliser.

Things got worse for Devizes when within 2 minutes another unforced error let the Melksham forward in on goal and he casually finished, giving the keeper no chance. Devizes now finally woke up and went looking for an equaliser, but Melksham were in no mood to surrender there lead and every ball was competed for vigorously.

As the game developed into a midfield battle chance were at a premium and when they did come along both keepers were up to the challenge. As time ran out Devizes gained a corner and pushed everybody into the box, including there keeper, but as the ball fizzed across the goalmouth nobody managed to got a touch to it.

At the final whistle it was Melksham who were celebrating finally getting one over Devizes but again the two teams had provided another great game for the watching supporters.
