Leisure guide food section, I am sorry to disappoint you, but Marshfield is not a gem of Wiltshire, it is in Gloucestershire, only about two miles though.
I am a Gloucestershire born and bred man, my family moved to Marshfield 90 years ago and are buried in the village cemetery.
The Catherine Wheel is one of two remaining public houses, there were originally seven in the village. The Wheel, as it was known by the locals, was the place a certain Mr Dylan Thomas used to frequent with other characters when they lived in the village during the Blitz.
I am sure the natives will forgive you for the error and welcome you with open arms, and if you visit again go on Boxing Day morning and watch the Marshfield Mummers perform.
