How would your best friend describe you?

I would like to think that they would describe me as thoughtful, loyal, helpful - and with a good sense of humour.

Where would you recommend for a great day or evening out?

An enjoyable day out would be a visit to Heavens Gate on the Longleat estate followed by a cup of tea at Squirrels Tea Room at Southwick Country Park. For a good evening out it would be hard to beat the Assam Indian restaurant in Trowbridge.

What do you do for fun?

I enjoy reading on a variety of subjects but nothing beats getting together with friends for a good meal and a couple of drinks.

Describe your most vivid dream.

The most vivid dream was that I was mayor of Trowbridge - and it came true.

Who in the public eye do you respect the most and why?

I would have to say Her Majesty the Queen as she has served us as Head of State unstintingly for the past 55 years.

What is your biggest regret?

I can't say that I particularly have any major regrets, though with the benefit of hindsight there are one or two things I would have done slightly differently.

What is your favourite film or TV show and why?

My favourite film is A Private Function by Alan Bennett. It is a very funny film with strong and amusing characters.

Favourite television shows include Timewatch, Dad's Army and The Royle Family.

What makes you sad?

Man's inhumanity.

Describe your perfect day.

A summer's day either at the coast or in the countryside or visiting either a stately home or a museum, such as the excellent one we have here in Trowbridge.
