Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin made an uncoupled appearance at the same film screening in New York.

The estranged actress and musician - who announced their "conscious uncoupling" on Gwyneth's Goop website after 11 years together - both attended a screening of friend Simon Pegg's new film, Hector And The Search For Happiness.

But Gwyneth, 41, and Coldplay singer Chris, 37, arrived separately at the movie theatre in upmarket coastal suburb The Hamptons, Mail Online reports.

Gwyneth was pictured arriving solo, and Chris was later snapped leaving the cinema to make his way to the after-party with the rests of the guests.

The film stars British actor Simon, who is a close friend of the couple and is godfather to their daughter Apple, while Chris is also a godparent to Simon's daughter.

Since they announced their split in March, Gwyneth and Chris have reportedly continued to share a home in Los Angeles and have even been spotted holding hands.

The ex-couple, who have two children, Apple, nine, and Moses, seven, said that they still "love each other very much" when revealing their decision to separate.

"We are, however, and always will be a family, an d in many ways we are closer than we have ever been," the statement said at the time.

Chris said in a recent interview on US TV: "The thing that we told everyone at the beginning of the year is true. We're very close. We're not together. That's the truth."
